Why did you decide to take part in the workshops?
I wanted to gain better knowledge of finances and improve the way I am able to manage the company finances.
What did you aim to get out of the sessions?
I have managed company accounts since 2006 and felt wary and unsure on certain aspects of the accounts. Whilst having meetings with the company accountant, I often felt I did not completely understand the terminology he used and wanted to get up to speed with this and add to my knowledge and skills.
What did you enjoy most about attending?
The workshop trainer was very dynamic and had a good sense of humour which made the workshops enjoyable. I found that completing the test at the end of each workshop beneficial as the course content I had learnt earlier in the day was still fresh in my mind.
How have you used what you learnt within your business?
After completing the finance workshops, I set up an accounts spreadsheet which is a system that makes it easier and more manageable to keep up to date with the finances.
What benefits have the sessions brought to your business?
I have now re-written the company Business Plan using the knowledge gained from the workshops. I also recently put a bid into the bank to raise more finance for the company and hope to be successful. Before completing the workshops, I would not have felt confident enough to apply to the bank for more finance but now I feel more able.
Would you recommend the sessions to other businesses?
Yes, I have recommended the workshops to several of our suppliers and business contacts.
